Overview of Circle Sumo

Circle Sumo is built for couch co-op and quick rematches. Everyone controls a squishy jelly blob with momentum-based movement. Collisions feel bouncy, dashes hit hard, and falling off the arena knocks you out until the next round. Rounds are short, so it works great as a warm-up game at parties or on a shared screen.

Game modes

  • Classic โ€” Last jelly standing wins. Knock everyone else off the disc.
  • King of the Hill โ€” Hold the center crown zone to earn points. First player to reach the score target wins.
  • Falling Floor โ€” Hex tiles crumble over time. Keep moving or the ground disappears under you.
  • Total Chaos โ€” Powerups spawn much faster. Expect bombs, tornados, and wild swings every few seconds.

Maps

  • Arena โ€” Standard circular platform; great for learning the game.
  • Hex โ€” Hexagonal tiles; outer tiles can fall away during floor-style pressure.
  • Rotor โ€” The arena slowly spins, adding drift to every push.
  • Lava โ€” A hot outer ring pushes you outward if you linger on the edge.
  • Space โ€” Low friction and a starfield vibe; slides and bumps go further.

Players

  • 1 โ€” Solo vs the BOT (you are P1 with WASD; the rival is BOT).
  • 2โ€“4 โ€” Local multiplayer on one keyboard or touch controls.

Controls

Keyboard (up to 4 players on one PC):

PlayerMoveDash
P1WASDSpace
P2Arrow keysEnter
P3IJKLO
P4TFGHY

Touch (phones & tablets): Each active player gets a corner joystickโ€”P1 and P2 on the bottom, P3 and P4 on the top when you play with three or four. Drag to move; tap the joystick to dash.

Powerups

Grab glowing pickups in the arena for temporary boosts:

  • Turbo โ€” Faster movement and acceleration.
  • Super Weight โ€” Heavier hits; harder to push around.
  • Tornado โ€” Spin and fling nearby players.
  • Shield โ€” Bounce off the edge and absorb more knockback.
  • Hammer โ€” Extra punch on dash collisions.
  • Sticky โ€” Slow enemies that touch you.
  • Bomb โ€” Drops an explosive that launches everyone nearby.

In Total Chaos, expect several powerups on the field at onceโ€”grab one before your rivals do.

Tips that work in Circle Sumo

  • Dash with purpose โ€” Dashing has a cooldown. Use it to finish someone near the rim, not at random in the center.
  • Cut angles โ€” Approach opponents from the side so your momentum sends them outward, not back into you.
  • Respect the edge โ€” On Lava and small remaining tiles, one good bump is enough. Play patient near the border.
  • King mode: own the center โ€” You do not need eliminations; staying in the crown zone while others fight at the edge often wins.
  • Floor mode: keep relocating โ€” Do not camp on one tile. Move toward the middle as the outer hexes warn and fall.

Common mistakes in Circle Sumo

  • Dashing into the center with no target, then getting shoved off while on cooldown.
  • Ignoring powerups in Chaos modeโ€”unarmed jellies lose trades fast.
  • Chasing a elimination on Rotor without accounting for spin; you often walk yourself off.
  • Four players on one keyboard without agreeing on who sits whereโ€”assign corners before the countdown.
