Sunset Watcher
Sunset Watcher on papa.fun is a relaxed way to watch live sunset streams from different places. This guide focuses only on Sunset Watcher: what it does, how the UI works, and how to get the most out of it.

What Sunset Watcher is
Sunset Watcher ranks configured locations by local time and shows YouTube livestreams for places that fit a late-afternoon window (around 6:00–8:00 PM in each location’s own timezone). When no location falls in that window, the experience still works: it picks a small set of random streams from the list so you always have something to watch.
How the screen is laid out
- Top row: Refresh plus city tags (each tag is a location you can jump to).
- Main area: the video on the left and a details panel on the right with the city name, timezone, a short status line, and Previous / Next to move through the current list like a carousel.
- Tags use a compact “#” chip style; the active location is highlighted so you always know which stream is playing.
How to use Sunset Watcher
- Tap a tag to switch streams, or use Previous and Next to cycle the list.
- Press Refresh to reload the page logic: the app re-checks local times, rebuilds the tag list, and may reshuffle the random fallback set when the evening window is empty.
- If a stream fails to load in the embed, try another tag or refresh—live cameras sometimes go offline.
Tips
- Evening window: when several tags appear, those locations are in the same local “golden hour” band”—good for sunset skies.
- Random fallback: when the window is empty, you still get a handful of streams; treat it as a sampler until real sunset times line up again in your configured cities.
- Audio: many embeds start muted; use YouTube’s controls in the player if you want sound.
Ideas for customizing
The stream list lives in the Sunset Watcher game component in the repo (SunsetObserver folder). You can swap in your own YouTube live URLs per city and adjust timezones so the evening filter matches the places you care about.
Quick checklist
- I know how to pick a tag or use Previous / Next in Sunset Watcher.
- I use Refresh when I want a new ordering or a new random set.
- I remember that streams depend on third-party cameras staying online.
